The Socci Family is tied to Lamole by a legend that comes from 1071 and therefore indicates their presence at that time.
In 1612, 1643 and 1655, Adamo, Santi and Maffeo Socci had been Gonfalioneri of the “ValdiGreve League”, respectively.
From the book of memories kept by the family of Giovanni Socci, we know the following:
- Giovanni (Lamole, 1834 - 1926) transferred to Siena to start the profession of Notary Public.
With the profits from the activity, the family’s land is expanded to the current dimensions we see today of the Fattoria di Lamole.
- The son of Giovanni, Carlo (Siena, 1882 - Lamole, 1952), also a Notary Public, returns to Lamole and dedicates himself to the reconstruction of the vineyards that had been destroyed by the phylloxera, or vine pest, assisted by the passion and skill of Livio Piccini. In 1924, it is one of the founders of the Chianti Classico Consortium.
- Under the direction of Giorgio (Lamole, 1919 - Florence, 1969), the Fattoria di Lamole is recognised in 1956 as being the number one of the large specialised companies in Tuscany.
- Since 2003, the Fattoria di Lamole is the property of Giorgio’s son, Paolo, who has started a detailed recovery plan of the historical vineyards and the company’s antique buildings.
